What we don’t sell, so you know what you’re getting.

A publishing house that says what it doesn’t do is a publishing house that isn’t desperate. Here’s the full list.

  • Rankings. We don’t sell Amazon positions or bestseller promises. A subcategory ranking can be bought with a few dozen sales in a day, and it doesn’t change a single proposal.
  • Sales. We don’t promise copies sold. An expert’s book sells little and works a lot; if someone tells you otherwise, ask how many copies their last one sold.
  • Paid advertising. Not on Amazon, Google or social media. It can be arranged separately, with your budget and your decision.
  • Bookstore shelf placement. Distribution through the Ingram network means any bookstore can order your book. What each bookseller puts on the table is each bookseller’s call.
  • Translation. We publish in the language you speak, English or Spanish. We don’t translate a book from one to the other.
  • Free copies. Author copies are sold at cost, always. The twenty-five in Authority Author are the only exception, and they’re in the price.
  • Audiobook. Not for now.
  • Academic, institutional or fiction books. Not our craft.
  • Books without you. No interviews, no voice; no voice, no book.

Guarantees and exits

Assessment guarantee: if after the Intelligent Author interviews the editor concludes there’s no book, you’re told in writing and refunded what you paid minus the interviews held, valued at the editor’s rate. It’s said before you sign.

If you leave: before the Architecture stage, what wasn’t done is refunded; after it, you receive what was produced to date, without a refund.

If you want to pull the book: you can withdraw and republish it whenever you want, with the final files. The contract has no exclusivity and no lock-in.

If the scope changes: a third manuscript review round is billed at editor hours. We tell you when the second one closes, not after.

Rights, ISBN and royalties

The copyright is yours, one hundred percent. Your Amazon KDP and IngramSpark accounts are opened in your name, with delegated access for DASHING during the process, and royalties go straight to you. DASHING assigns the ISBN under its imprint as publisher of record, because it speeds things up; if you’d rather use your own, we use it at no extra cost. The copyright page says who produced it; the cover says who wrote it.

Copies at cost

Printing a 200-page black-and-white copy costs around four dollars on Ingram’s print-on-demand network at current rates. We sell author copies at that cost plus handling and shipping, with no markup. Shipping to Australia or New Zealand changes the figure; the exact number goes in your proposal.

If after reading this you decide it’s not for you, we did our job.
